Richard Elson Greer, 64, a life resident of Magnolia,
for many years a banker there, and one of the
pioneers in the clay industry, died late Monday
afternoon in his home in Magnolia following a heart
attach. Until shortly before his death, he was
secretary of the Bank of Magnolia, which position he
had held for many years.
Mr. Greer was a pioneer in the Clay business in the
Sandy Valley Greer-Beatty company, which
afterwards mergered with the Whitacre Greer
Fireproofing company. Mr. Greer was one of the
organizers of W. H. Greer and Sons bank of Magnolia,
now the Bank of Magnolia. He is survived by his
widow; and a brother, W. H. Greer of Magnolia.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at
2:30 o'clock at the late home and burial will be made
later at Wellsville.

Mrs Winona B. Greer, widow of Richard E.
Greer, a prominant Magnolia resident, died
Tuesday in the Jane Frances Concalescent
home.
Since 1932, following the death of her
husband, Mrs. Greer had resided with her
sister, Mrs. G. Ray Mackall at 503 23rd St
NW, and had been at Jane Frances since last
December.
In additon to her sister, she leaves a number
of nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted Friday at 8 p.m. in
McCreery-Kreighbaum funeral home on
Cleveland Ave., SW. Saturday the body will
be taken to Wellsville and placed in the Greer
Mausoleum. Friends may call at the parlors
Thursday from 7 to 9 and Friday 2 to 4 and 7
to 9 p.m.
